They came from all over the country to celebrate the humble comic strip – and to hit Edgbaston Cricket Ground for six.
Guests had travelled to the Birmingham Comics Festival from places as far as London, Northampton, Skegness, Kent, Nottingham, Cardiff, Lincoln, Bristol, Sheffield, Leicester and Teesside.
Outside the front door waiting to greet them, various police vehicles were on display complete with flashing lights and deafening sirens.
